LGE Design Build started construction on a new 33,000-square-foot distribution center for WireMasters, a distributor of wire, cable and associated electrical components for cable harnesses serving the military, aerospace and defense industry.

The new distribution center, expected to be complete in early 2017, will serve the southwestern United States. Located at 1748 N. Higley Rd. in Mesa, the building will be near Boeing and other clients at Falcon Field Airport.

After establishing an office in Mesa only four years ago, WireMasters has grown to require the new building, which is about three times larger than its previous nearby leased space.

“WireMasters continues to grow and we are eager to establish more permanent roots in Mesa,” said Brent Hill, a member of the WireMasters’ family ownership group. His dad started working in WireMasters’ warehouse in 1991 and eventually became a principal owner.

WireMasters distributes materials used in airplanes, helicopters, unmanned aircraft, aviation wire, ships, missiles, bombs as well as military ground vehicles. Clients include OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), MROs (maintenance, repair and overhaul) facilities, cable harness assembly facilities and aerospace industry completion centers.

The company has an inventory of 70 million feet of wire cable. Headquartered in Columbia, Tenn., the family-owned business has four locations in the U.S. with a total of 170 employees.

The new Mesa building will include 27,000 square feet of warehouse space with four drive-in bays and two truck docks and 6,000 square feet of office space.

The additional space will increase WireMasters’ capacity to offer value-added services such as custom respooling, lasermarking, kitting, cut and strip, etc. (making the material immediately ready for application once it ships) and also enable it to stock more inventory.

“Effectively, this investment allows us to go the extra mile in meeting our customers’ specific requirements and needs,” Hill said.

“LGE Design Build is proud to support the growth of WireMasters. The new building will enable the company to more efficiently serve the military, aerospace and defense industry,” said David Sellers, president of LGE Design Build.

LGE Design Group will serve as the architect.
