ASU School of Art Relocates to Downtown Phoenix

Arizona State University’s Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts is relocating several of its studios and programs to the Warehouse District of Downtown Phoenix. Industrial developer Michael Levine’s building at 605 E. Grant Street will be home to 26,000 square feet of new gallery and studio space. Approximately 5,800 students comprise the fine arts school.

Curtis Brown of Scottsdale based Ross Brown Partners, Inc. represented ASU in the deal. “The property at 605 E. Grant represented a unique opportunity for ASU to expand their commitment to the growing and dynamic arts community in downtown Phoenix,” said Mr. Brown. “The retrofitting and re-purposing that had already been done to this former machine shop by developer Michael Levine was nothing short of visionary. It was a great fit for the fine arts program. The work ASU will complete and the programs they will house here will create a magnet and a model for creative urban re-use projects. This will be another jewel for Downtown Phoenix,” Mr. Brown went on to say. Additionally Mr. Brown noted that the City of Phoenix was a big help in landing the project, specifically noting the assistance from Project Management Assistant Kedrick Ellison with the Community and Economic Development Department.

ASU will begin shifting programs to the new space, located blocks away from Chase Field and U.S. Airways Center, as early as next month.

Ross Brown Partners is a Scottsdale based real estate brokerage and property management company and has worked with ASU on several projects over the last 3 years. Operating in the Phoenix market since 1990, Ross Brown Partners specializes in advising clients in all aspects of office and industrial real estate.
