Full-service commercial real estate firm PMRG announced the topping-out of Arizona General Hospital in southeast Mesa.

California-based Dignity Health and Texas-based Adeptus Health formed a partnership last year to expand emergency medical care in the metro Phoenix market and selected PMRG as the developer. This came on the heels of PMRG’s successful completion of another acute care hospital for Adeptus Health in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex.

PMRG’s Senior Vice President, Peter Phillips, called the topping out a “significant step” in the successful construction of the hospital.

“We’re pleased to report PMRG’s second acute care hospital with Adeptus Health is once again, tracking to be on time and on budget,” said Phillips, noting the acute care hospital is expected to be open and operational in 2017.

Along with PMRG, the Arizona General Hospital team is comprised of Ascension Group Architects, Kimley Horn as the civil engineer, and Big-D Construction Southwest, LLC as the general contractor.

At more than twice the size of Dignity Health’s Laveen, Arizona facility which opened last year, this 94,000 square foot, 50-bed hospital will provide inpatient surgery services and includes an emergency department and helipad and diagnostics/imaging equipped with the latest technologies. Located at the northwest corner of Ellsworth and Elliot roads, this three-story facility expands the Dignity Health and Adeptus Health presence in the metro Phoenix market, augmenting their freestanding emergency room portfolio with locations in Gilbert, Chandler, Mesa, Goodyear, Ahwatukee and soon, Surprise, Arizona.

“Healthcare providers are heavily focused on providing quality outpatient facilities and emergency care to communities currently underserved,” said Glen Perkins, PMRG Executive Vice President and Managing Director. With the number of Emergency Room visits rising and healthcare moving to locations near patients’ homes, PMRG is pleased to play an integral role in the expansion of quality healthcare to communities similar to Mesa.”

PMRG has enjoyed a strong relationship with Adeptus Health over the past three years, developing and completing 36 First Choice Emergency Rooms and additional freestanding facilities in various stages of construction and design.
