Construction on a 119,000-square-foot assisted living and memory care facility, Savanna House, in Gilbert was completed by The Weitz Company in late March.

The upscale facility offers three memory care neighborhoods. Each area caters to residents who are living with different stages of Alzheimer’s and dementia.

The assisted living portion of the community will offer residents assistance with activities of daily living. Amenities include a restaurant-style dining room; private dining room for family gatherings; café/bistro; several activity areas such as a card and game room; movie theatre; beauty salon; music room; library/computer center; and wellness/fitness room with a physician’s office and exam space.

Built on the southeast corner of Baseline and Higley Roads, Savanna House is about one-half mile from Banner Gateway Medical Center.

The Weitz Company was hired as the general contractor, and the facility was designed by Architectural Concepts, a Florida architectural firm that developer Prevarian Senior Living has used for other projects.

“Weitz was excited to work with Prevarian on its first project in Arizona,” said Chris Harrison, executive vice president and general manager for The Weitz Company. “We look forward to future projects as Prevarian aims to expand its footprint in the Southwest region of the U.S.”

Savanna House is managed by Life Care Services, an LCS Company, which operates two other senior living communities in the Phoenix area that were also built by Weitz – Sagewood in Phoenix and Friendship Village in Tempe, Ariz.
