If you’re looking for a fun and artistic way to start off 2013, “Beyond Words,” an exclusive display of songwriter and contemporary artist Bernie Taupin’s work, will be on display at DeRubeis Fine Art of Metal in Scottsdale from January 24 through 27. Taupin’s artwork will also be available for purchase during the event.
Taupin is known for his role as Elton John’s songwriter. In fact, Taupin wrote the majority of his songs, including some of John’s major hits such as “Rocket Man” and “Bennie and the Jets.” John once told an audience at one of his shows that without Taupin, there probably wouldn’t be the same Elton John that the public knew.
“We were glad to get someone of his caliber to show at our gallery,” says Phillip Sacks, owner and partner at DeRubeis. “It’s an honor to have him do a show here.” Sacks adds that his gallery was not only eager to feature Taupin, but Taupin was also eager to come show his work in Scottsdale.
Specializing in mixed media, Taupin has the ability to “paint what he feels” by creating contemporary works of art. He creates his art on various mediums and uses different types of material when painting.
During the last two days of the event (Jan. 26-27), Taupin will make special appearances at the gallery from 7 to 9 p.m. and from 2 to 4 p.m., respectively. Guests will need to RSVP to attend the gallery when Taupin is present.
Also taking place on Thursday, Jan. 24 is the Scottsdale ArtWalk, which is held every Thursday. Guests will have the opportunity to view art at all galleries in the area, and for those attending, keep an eye out: Taupin may just make an appearance at the ArtWalk.
