Still downing chocolate milk post-workout? Get ready for an upgrade. RAM Racing is bringing the Hot Chocolate 15/5K, also known as “America’s Sweetest Race,” to Scottsdale this December. After completing the 5K or 15K, whatever the battle may be, finishers get to indulge with hot cocoa, chocolate fondue, and other chocolaty treats.

On Sunday, December 9, 2012, the Hot Chocolate Race will have thousands of sweet tooth participants running and walking for chocolate. Currently in eight cities across the United States, this is the inaugural race for Scottsdale, starting and ending at Salt River Fields.

“We are looking forward to bringing this unique event to Arizona,” said Race Director Brandon Presern. “We think we’ll be well-received with the Hot Chocolate (race) and chocolate party being new to the area.”

The series is an expansion of the Hot Chocolate race that RAM Racing started in Chicago four years ago, said Presern. The Chicago race has grown from 3,500 participants in 2008 to 40,000 last year. Hot Chocolate races in the Dallas and San Diego drew first-year fields of 10,000 and 7,500, respectively.

Registration is now open for Valley residents looking to tackle the sweet trek this winter. Participants receive a wind and water-resistant running jacket at the expo prior to the event, and of course, a mug full of delicious treats to celebrate at the post-race party. The family-friendly event proudly supports the Ronald McDonald House Charity and locally, the Salt River Community Children’s Foundation.

The Hot Chocolate Race is great for corporations and businesses looking for an opportunity to do team building, fitness groups looking for a fun themed race or individuals looking to challenge themselves.
