Phoenix Fashion Week is challenging Arizona fashionistas to visit any of the 67 Goodwill locations in Arizona to search the many clothing racks, find the perfect project dress and re-purpose it into their interpretation of the iconic Little Black Dress as a part of the 4th Annual Little Black Dress Challenge, presented by Goodwill.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Phoenix Fashion Week and the Little Black Dress Challenge! Goodwill is the ultimate fashion destination for those looking to recycle, reuse, and repurpose, and we’re excited to showcase the potential Goodwill has for Phoenix fashionistas!” said Courtney Nelson, VP of Marketing and Communications at Goodwill of Central Arizona.

Little Black Dress Challenge upcycled dresses must be submitted in-person to the Phoenix Fashion Week office on Saturday, September 26th at 9:00am.

Upcycle expert, Angela Johnson and Phoenix Fashion Week Designer Leader, Alison Callaway of the Little Black Dress Challenge Review Panel, will then narrow down to the challenge’s Top 4 finalists.

“As a fashion design instructor and a designer that has been giving T-shirts the Cinderella treatment by upcycling them into tailored ball gowns for over 15 years, this contest couldn’t be a better fit for me. I’m so excited to see what everyone will create and to meet more fashion lovers who are passionate about upcycling,” said Johnson.

Fans and followers will be encouraged to visit Phoenix Fashion Week’s Facebook page, where they can view the top four upcycled little black dresses and vote for their favorite.

The winning dresses will be repurposed by these talented finalists leading up to fashion week, where all four will be on display in the Style Villa shopping marketplace, for attendees to view. The Little Black Dress Challenge winners will be officially announced live on Friday, October 2nd at Phoenix Fashion Week at Talking Stick Resort, with Goodwill presenting the 1st Prize winner with $500 cash, 2nd prize with $250 cash and 3rd/4th prize with Goodwill gift cards!
