Meet the Models spotlights each and every model featured in Scottsdale Living — so you can get to know them better.

Up next on Meet the Models, meet Mai Ling, who you can spot sporting a sexy, nautical-style two-piece from Beach Bunny Swimwear in the Style section of the Spring 2012 issue.

How did you start modeling?

Although I am turning 40 in May, I am very new to the modeling industry. I actually just began investigating and pursuing engagements last summer and am so proud to say my very first paid commercial shoot took place Fall 2011.

What type of modeling do you like the most and why?

I was initially pursuing commercial product modeling because of my height, but I am thrilled to have been selected for several full-body, lifestyle prints. It is definitely more creative with role-playing and has also been much more fun to work with other models involved on a set.

What is your favorite shoot you’ve done and why?

The bathing suit issue shot at the Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale is definitely my favorite one so far! “Glamorous,” “classic swimsuit set,” and “FUN!” are the ways I would describe it.

Meet the Models: Mai LingDo you have an all-time favorite modeling photo?

‹‹‹ I love this shot, and I use it for all my online avatars. My husband took it, and it is 100 percent me.

What advice would you give to someone interested in modeling?

“You must find the place inside yourself where nothing is impossible.” ― Deepak Chopra

Age is just a reminder that there is less and less time to experience the joys of life. The road to modeling has been a journey to self for me. I challenged myself to do something that was so uncomfortable it made me sweat to just think about it and found out that it was actually fun! Interested in modeling? Definitely start today!
