Continuing its annual “Wildflower Cares” celebration, Wildflower Bread Company announced it has again joined forces with No Kid Hungry to bring an end to childhood hunger. With the help of its customers, the local restaurant chain has targeted a goal of providing 450,000 meals this year.
During the month of September, No Kid Hungry raises awareness of childhood hunger and works with restaurants throughout the country to ensure that every child in the United States has access to healthy food.
Wildflower is joining that effort by offering guests the opportunity to donate directly to No Kid Hungry from September 11 through September 26. Every dollar raised is going to connect a child with 10 nutritious meals.
There are a few ways customers can donate at any Wildflower location:
• $1 from every Wildflower egg sandwich purchase will be donated to No Kid Hungry
• $1 from every Wildflower kid’s meal purchase will be donated to No Kid Hungry
• Customers can choose to donate $1 or more without purchasing a featured menu item
“Nearly one in five children live in households that struggle to put food on the table. The statistic is even more alarming in Arizona, where one in four children are without consistent access to nutritious meals,” said Louis Basile, founder and president of Wildflower Bread Company. “No Kid Hungry aligns closely with Wildflower’s commitment to support hunger relief. We share the philosophy that no child should miss a meal. The response from our customers and the enthusiasm from our Breadheads has been extraordinary.”
“We are elated to be partnering with Wildflower Bread Company again this year. Wildflower is truly a best-in-class example of how to mobilize team members to run a fantastic Dine Out for No Kid Hungry campaign,” said Diana Hovey, senior director of Dine Out for No Kid Hungry. “With more than 807,000 meals donated to No Kid Hungry since 2010, Wildflower and its guests are helping to ensure that kids struggling with hunger in Arizona have access to the breakfasts, after-school meals, and summer meals that they need.”
In addition to the in-store campaign, Wildflower will be teaming up with St. Vincent de Paul for a restaurant takeover on Wednesday, Sept. 14. Wildflower employees, known as Breadheads, will take over the central kitchen to prepare and serve some of Wildflower’s signature dishes to approximately 300 children and parents who otherwise cannot afford a restaurant experience.
