Mohave Community College is gearing up for construction of the new Arts and Education Common for the Lake Havasu City campus. D.L. Withers Construction is the general contractor.
“After years of recession, we are starting to see signs of improvement in the economy. Although no one expects a rapid return to the prosperity and employment levels we saw at the beginning of the century, there are good signs, ” says MCC President Michael J Kearns.
This facility will allow the Lake Havasu City campus a fine arts building, with much needed additional classroom space and common areas for students. At 12,400 air conditioned/interior SF, with an additional 4,250 exterior SF under roof overhang, it is a studio arts building, consisting of a heating ventilation and air conditioning trade lab, studios for painting, ceramics, sculpture, lapidary arts and exterior casting labs.
This new facility is designed to replace the San Juan annex and to consolidate the arts program back to facilities on the main campus.
Designed by Michael Taylor Architects and built by D.L. Withers, the same team that completed MCC’s Allied Health Sciences facility in 2012, the project is underway with finalization of the construction drawings and preconstruction services ongoing.
The new facility is scheduled for completion in 4Q 2013.
