Empower College Prep will be marking School Choice Week with a groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of its high school campus. The historic event will take place at noon on Thursday, Jan. 24 at the school and will be attended by more than 700 students, staff, and community members. The ceremony will feature remarks by mayoral candidate Danny Valenzuela, Empower College Prep board member Pat Welborn, Empower College Prep director Brian Holman, and student speakers. The expansion will add a gymnasium and classrooms to Empower College Prep’s campus, transforming it into a $20 million K-12 educational complex in the center of Phoenix, Arizona. This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states. “We are thrilled that this momentous event can take place during National School Choice Week,” said Brian Holman. “The expansion will be transformative, allowing us to double the students we serve over the next five years.” Empower College Prep is a tuition-free college-preparatory school preparing central-Phoenix youth to succeed in college and change the world. As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country. From January 20 through 26, 2019, more than 40,000 independently-planned events will be held in celebration of the Week. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com. |
