Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert celebrated its one-millionth patient visit on Friday, Dec. 20, a milestone highlighting the wide variety of life-changing interactions the facility’s doctors and medical staff continue having with patients.
Patient visits include surgeries, procedures, many different types of treatments, appointments with medical experts, and routine interactions such as blood draws, among other interactions.
“This one-in-a-million milestone truly reflects the special experience that takes place for every patient, physician, medical team member and staff member who walks in our doors,” said Lamont Yoder, CEO of Banner MD Anderson. “Our patients and caregivers are one of a kind, and we appreciate the chance to work together to improve one another’s lives.”
Since opening in 2011, Banner MD Anderson has celebrated many other milestones. These include taking part in a multitude of cutting-edge research projects and clinical trials, many of which have led to drugs and treatments that have since become FDA approved. The facility has also made major advancements in its stem cell transplant program, expanded its radiation oncology and melanoma programs, and started a tissue bank to research the causes of cancer and better fight the disease.
