Today’s spotlight: Lyndsey Fry
Director of external engagement and female hockey
Arizona Coyotes
Fry is the first person, male or female, from Arizona to represent Team USA in ice hockey at the Olympics and the first athlete from the state of Arizona to win a medal in the Winter Olympics. Fry won a silver medal in the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia. She played college hockey at Harvard University.
Lesson learned in 2020: “The biggest lesson I’ve taken away from the pandemic that has made me a stronger leader, is that life comes with many unexpected twists and turns, but the important part is how you respond to those changes. When change happens, there’s an opportunity for growth, and adopting this mindset will positively impact not only yourself, but those around you who you are responsible for leading through the challenges.”
Source of pride: “A professional accomplishment that gives me the most pride is co-founding the Arizona Kachinas Hockey Association. When I was born, there were less than 20 girls in the state of Arizona playing hockey. Now we have almost 200 in our association alone.”
Surprising fact: “I can sing … and I’m pretty good. I have always had a passion for music, and it has been a very fulfilling hobby that I have pursued over the years.”
