BACKGROUND: Melissa Swift leads the Arizona Commercial Treasury Team for WaFd Bank. She has over 25 years of banking experience. Her experience across the disciplines of technology, accounting and marketing delivers solutions for CFOs and company owners focused on integration, efficiency and automation designed to support their short and long-term goals.
CAREER PATH INSPIRATION: “The love of the game Monopoly (YES! I’ll be the banker!). I enjoyed learning about the economy and impacts in each industry, leading me to major in finance. When I began working in banking, I had no idea it would land me here, but each new role built new skills and widened my knowledge.”
SOURCE OF PRIDE: “My pride with my current position is sincerely unending, while I have achieved many internal awards for my successes, I really get excited about bringing clients creative financial solutions. I geek out on these things and when you solve an inefficiency that has existed for years at a client company, the satisfaction is immense.”
SOURCE OF INSPIRATION: “I was lucky enough to start my career with Jane Lum, a supportive and encouraging mentor. She taught me to believe in my skills. Another wonderful inspiration that taught me to use technologies and be creative with solutions was Rebecca Lynn. I am lucky to have an amazing leader in Todd Gerber who trusts and encourages me to be better each day, to face challenges bravely and to share ideas openly.”
SURPRISING FACT: “I make incredible deviled eggs. Invite me to a potluck and find out for yourself! I come up with all sorts of specialty recipes. Traditional, Greek, Double Dill, Spicy Jalapeño, Olive Bites, Pickled Pepper … who knows what’s next. But don’t expect me to EVER tell you my secret ingredient.”
