Vicky Peacey

President and general manager

Resolution Copper

Background: Peacey has been in the mining industry for more than two decades across a wide range of disciplines. She started her career in operations, covering open pit mining, concentrating, smelting and tailings and later transitioned to external affairs, permitting, communities and cultural heritage. Through 2021 and 2022, she led Communities and Social Performance for Rio Tinto Americas and then chief of staff for the chief operating officer of Rio Tinto Copper. Her current role is president of Resolution Copper.

Key to success: “Success is never a solo journey. It’s important to build a strong, collaborative team where everyone’s contributions are valued. The key to my success lies in a combination of strategic vision, a commitment to sustainability, teamwork and fostering a collaborative culture.”

Source of pride: “Partnerships with local communities, our closest neighbors and the Native American Tribes with ancestral ties to the land. We recently signed a Good Neighbor Agreement with local communities to formalize good faith, transparent dialogue over the life of the mine. At the same time, we celebrated a five year milestone in our partnership with Western Apache tribes, NAU and the Forest Service to restore Emory Oak Groves in Arizona.”

Surprising fact: “As an avid hockey enthusiast, I am deeply passionate about the sport. My kids play hockey, and I relish every opportunity to watch the game, regardless of who is playing. I follow every playoff game closely. I’m glued to the TV during the Stanley Cup Finals. I have a profound appreciation for the immense effort and dedication that hockey demands. The excitement and fast-paced nature of the game are truly captivating. Among my favorite teams are the Edmonton Oilers.”
