Video: Jerry Colangelo Museum opens at GCU

Grand Canyon University is honoring one of Arizona’s biggest sports icons, Jerry Colangelo, with a museum.

The Jerry Colangelo Museum is located on Grand Canyon University’s Phoenix campus near its arena. The museum houses memorabilia from throughout Colangelo’s storied career in Arizona.

Colangelo was owner of both the Phoenix Suns and the Arizona Diamondbacks. He has played a vital role in creating Arizona’s current professional sports community, and, in recent years, Colangelo has formed a special relationship with Grand Canyon University.

The university named its business school after Colangelo, and now has opened up a museum dedicated to him and his sports legacy.

The museum was unveiled at a VIP party on Wednesday, Sept. 20. Grand Canyon University officially opened the museum on Sept. 21.
