Valley of the Sun United Way announced the election of 13 new members to its Board of Directors, effective at the beginning of its fiscal year, which began July 1, 2020. Additionally, Jenny Holsman Tetreault was elected to serve a second one-year term as Chair of the 40-member board, and John Graham was elected Vice Chair for the next 12 months, then he will succeed Holsman Tetreault as Chair.
Valley of the Sun United Way has served Maricopa County for 95 years, with a focus on health and human services and education. In January, United Way launched its 2020 priorities to open itself up to the community, to seek insights on the greatest issues facing the Valley, to obtain community input on United Way’s role in solving those issues and to strengthen its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. When COVID-19 struck the Valley in March, United Way launched the United for the Valley COVID-19 Fund, which raised $2.9 million and continues to support local non-profits and schools that serve those impacted by the pandemic.

Our new board members bring a breadth of experience and expertise that will be vital to guiding United Way and our community forward,” said Holsman Tetreault, Assistant General Counsel, Field Operations, West and Northwest, US Foods.
In addition to serving as Board Chair, Holsman Tetreault serves on the United Way Worldwide Women United Global Leadership Council, the local United Way Board Executive Committee, the Major Gifts Committee and is a Vello virtual volunteer tutor. Previously, she served as Co-Chair of the local Women United group, Co-Chair of the We Are United luncheon, as a member of the Generation United Steering Committee and the United Way Campaign Cabinet. She and her husband Colin are members of the United Way Tocqueville Society.
Graham, who is Chairman and CEO of Sunbelt Holdings, is a member of the United Way Board Executive Committee and the Major Gifts Committee. In recent years, he also served on the Principal Gifts and Campaign Cabinets. He and his wife Kathleen are long-time members and past chairs of the Tocqueville Society, members of United Way’s highest-level of philanthropy, Foundation Circle, and the Legacy Society.

Rounding out the United Way board officers are: Robyn Arnell Brenden, Sr. Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer for CWT, who serves as Board Treasurer and Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee, and Brad Smith, Partner at Deloitte, who serves as Board Secretary and member of the Finance and Audit Committee.
