Founded by Dan Hinkson, a member of the Order of the Amaranth, the car show began as a fundraiser for diabetes research through a Masonic-affiliated organization dedicated to charitable work. Following Hinkson’s passing, the event continues in his honor and it remains especially meaningful at Mountain View, where many members of the organization are interred.
“This show started as Dan’s way of turning something he loved into something that could truly help people,” said Elisa Krcilek, vice president of Mountain View Funeral Home & Cemetery. “Continuing it in his name makes the day feel both joyful and deeply meaningful.”
This year’s car show brings even more energy to the grounds, with eight car clubs invited to participate and 10 vendors on site. Guests can expect family-friendly fun throughout the morning, including face painting for kids and adults, plus food and classic car camaraderie in a setting unlike any other show in the Valley.
“The location is part of what makes this event special,” said Greg Coury, owner of Mountain View Funeral Home & Cemetery.
“As the owner, I’m proud we can open up our grounds for a day like this. Having the cars displayed on the green mall area, with the granite Masonic Lodge feature nearby, creates a setting you don’t see at most shows. It’s a tradition people look forward to, and we’re honored to host it year after year.”
Proceeds from the event benefit diabetes research through the Amaranth Diabetes Foundation, which supports research aimed at finding a cure for diabetes. Organizers hope to raise $3,000 this year, continuing a legacy of fundraising driven by repeat participants who return annually and look forward to the event.
