With the holidays approaching, winter weather will soon follow!  Here in Arizona, we tend to stress out about our energy bill a little more in the summer when the air conditioner is running frequently. It’s easy to let your guard down in the winter, but the truth is you can still save money on your energy costs if you’re smart about it.  At Precision Air & Plumbing, we believe there are easy tips to help keep your home warm without breaking the bank.

Provide Insulation

Having the right amount of insulation and the right grade, will help keep heat inside your home during the winter months.  If your windows aren’t insulated and doors aren’t sealed, that is one way you can lose a lot of heat. Investing in window films and draft stoppers for doors can help get rid of cold breezes.

Invest in a Programmable Thermostat

Purchasing a programmable thermostat will allow you to set your home to an ideal temperature and allow it drop while you are sleeping or away for the day at work. You can also assess which rooms you spend the most time in and lower the thermostat in rooms you don’t visit often. Shutting the doors to help keep heat where you need it most will avoid letting warmth travel to unused spaces.

Keep Your Feet Warm

Adding rugs or carpet in areas of the house that are visited most frequently can help reduce temptation to reach for the thermostat. You can also load up on warm, fuzzy socks.

Keep Your HVAC Unit Well Maintained

Make sure your heating and air conditioning system (HVAC) is running as efficiently as possible.  Schedule a routine maintenance, inspection and tune-up of your air conditioning systems before the weather gets too cold, then enjoy your heat without worries.

These tips are inexpensive and easy ways to reduce your energy usage this winter. Save a few bucks by using these simple tips to help keep you and your family warm.
