Halloween will certainly look a little different this year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate in style! We’ve rounded up the best Halloween costumes depending on your personality type. At TTI SI, we work frequently with results from the DISC assessment. (If you don’t know your primary Communication style, take our free Working From Home Report to find out!)
If you are a Direct communicator, that means you are ambitious, forceful, decisive, strong-willed, independent and goal oriented. You like taking charge and making waves, so now is the perfect time for you to get spooky and channel your inner monster. Go classic and try Frankenstein, Dracula, the creature from the black lagoon, or a werewolf and get the perfect scare!
If you are a Reflective communicator, you are cooperative, low-key, modest and mild. Now is the perfect time for a group costume! Gather your pod for matching outfits and enjoy the camaraderie as a crew of pirates, Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Dr. Seuss, or the cast of your favorite TV show.
Outgoing communicators are magnetic, enthusiastic, friendly, demonstrative and conversational. They love the spotlight, so Halloween is the perfect time to go all out! Dress as your favorite musical icon (Elton John and Freddie Mercury are great choices!) and get some musical accompaniment. Other great options are some historical royalty — after all, what Outgoing person doesn’t want to feel like a queen or king for a day?
Reserved communicators are restrained, controlled, non-animated and reflective. The opposite of their Outgoing counterparts, they much prefer to observe the spectacle rather than take part in it themselves. Halloween is a great opportunity to blend in in the best way! You can’t go wrong as a classic ghost or scarecrow. These costumes will let you add the spooky atmosphere but still keep an eye on everything. Another option is to go as a living statue — you can pause when needed and still wow.
Steady communicators are patient, reliable, predictable and relaxed. They are agreeable and enjoy following a routine, so this year might be the perfect time to bust out your old Halloween costume and stick to what you know. A fun idea could be to revisit a costume from your childhood and revamp it for Halloween 2020!
Dynamic communicators are active, flexible, eager and fast-moving. Since they love to change it up, a multiple-part costume might be your key to Halloween fun. Try changing throughout the night to mix it up, showing the character arc of your favorite fictional hero. Dynamic communicators are also great at getting the energy going, so dress as a ringleader and rope your friends into dressing as your circus.
Precise communicators are careful, neat, compliant, and detail-oriented. A career-oriented costume, like a doctor or judge is a good fit for these meticulous folks, but if you want to get a little more fun, try dressing as a robot as a cheeky nod to your regimented ways.
Pioneering communicators are uninhibited, open-minded, independent, and unconventional. Certainly not the best candidates for a group costume, try something entirely unique to stand out this Halloween! An astronaut or adventurer like Indiana Jones is a great choice for these trailblazers.
You can’t go wrong when you follow your personality! Find the costume that will make you feel like yourself, even if you’re dressed like someone else, and have a safe and spooky Halloween.
