Just in time to kick off the holiday gifting season, Sprinkles Cupcakes announced the launch of their Cupcake ATM at its Scottsdale location on Tuesday, Dec. 9. The ATM will dispense freshly baked cupcakes 24-hours a day, seven days a week. To celebrate, beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday there will be 50 golden tickets hidden in random cupcake boxes inside the ATM. Each golden ticket will be redeemable for anywhere from one free cupcake to ten dozen free cupcakes.
The first Sprinkles Cupcake ATM was installed at their Beverly Hills store in March of 2012. Since then, the machine has launched in several major cities across the United States including, Dallas, Atlanta, New York and Las Vegas.
The cupcakes are the same ones served inside the bakery each day. The Scottsdale ATM will hold a little more than 500 of the sweet treats and is restocked three to five times a day to ensure freshness. For those with dietary restrictions, the Cupcake ATM will also have their vegan, gluten free and sugar free cupcakes. Even though the store is only open 12 hours a day, people will be able to get a cupcake any time—day or night!
The ATM will be on the north side of the store. Since the cupcakes are fragile, a special robotic arm was developed that uses a suction to grasp the cupcake box and gently move it to the customer window. A clear glass display will allow anyone to see just how it works. Each ATM is customized and carefully crafted specific to that store location.
Founder of Sprinkles, Candace Nelson, explains how the machine works here.
Sprinkles is located at 4501 N. Scottsdale Road on the northeast corner of Scottsdale and Camelback roads, across from Scottsdale Fashion Square.
