The pandemic altered our morning routine virtually overnight, but now with the world returning to the office, almost everyone is looking for more time after waking up. Being efficient in the beginning of the day isn’t an easy feat, especially since hair drying alone can take up to 30 minutes. This task, along with all the other morning to-dos, doesn’t leave much of an opportunity to enjoy a cup of coffee, workout, or continue that morning meditation practice. However, Drybar has a few suggestions to help you save time, style your hair in half the time and get ready faster in the morning.

Never start drying with soaking wet hair.  First, squeeze out as much water out of your hair as you can with a towel. You can use a regular towel but for extra absorption, use one made from microfiber to get your hair even more dry. When you’re towel drying be sure to focus on the roots. The ends of your hair tend to dry first, so drying the densest part will help significantly cut down drying time. The next step is to run your fingers through your hair till it is about 40% dry. This pre-drying routine is crucial in saving time.

Dry your hair in sections. Divide your hair into small sections and start drying them methodically starting with the bottom sections first. The smaller the sections you use, the less time they will take to dry because the hair is less dense in smaller sections. When you’re drying, aim the nozzle at the roots to add volume, then work toward the ends, using a brush to pull hair forward and out. This sectioning technique helps speed up drying time and gives your hair a very polished, smooth look and feel.

Use the right tools and products. Start by applying a quick dry blowout serum that will reduce blowout time, fight frizz and protect your hair from heat for a smooth finish. Next, the tool that can reduce blow-drying time by 20% is a blow-dryer brush.  It combines the hot air of a blow-dryer with the structure of a round brush to create a smooth, shiny blowout with tons of volume. The Ionic technology causes water to evaporate faster by breaking down water particles in the hair, accelerating the drying process. With your drying time decreased, the other benefit is it’s less likely that hot airflow will damage your hair.

Wanting to get ready quickly in the morning shouldn’t mean that you have to compromise the quality of your hair. With this routine and product use, you will drastically cut down drying time and have hair that looks and feels healthy.
