DIG IT Urban Gardens and Nursery, unveiled its ShmOrganics brand, a full line of organic fruit and vegetables plants local residents can grow in their own backyard.
Based on honesty and simplicity, the new products bring produce to the local market that is as natural and chemically free as possible.
“We want to provide Valley residents with an alternative option to fertilizers and potentially dangerous pesticides simply because you are what you eat,” said Ryan Jerrell, owner and co-founder of DIG IT. “We also think it is important to educate our next generation on what naturally grown food looks like, versus the idealistic view we see now at supermarkets.”
The inspiration behind the ShmOrganics began with research into local “organic” products. Discovering that there are still chemicals and “natural” pesticides used on these products, DIG IT started ShmOrganics to provide Valley residents of all gardening levels safe, healthy foods for themselves and their families.
“We think it’s important to grow organically in any city and Phoenix is no exception,” said Tim Bishop, owner and co-founder of DIG IT. “Additionally, our mild winters and spread of households with large yards provides an ideal climate and plenty of space for gardeners to produce a significant amount of organic foods.”
Grown on the company’s local farm in Phoenix, DIG IT now offers a variety of organic plants including tomatoes, peppers, green beans, cucumbers, summer squash, watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, okra, zucchini, eggplant and more. Working to inform Valley residents on how to start their own garden or transform their existing garden to organic, DIG IT is the Valley’s new hub for all-natural gardening.
