Bitter & Twisted Cocktail Parlour has been named one of the Best Bars in America for 2015 by the prestigious online drinks publication, Liquor.com. As the only Arizona bar to make the Liquor.com‘s new “Drink Here Now” List, Bitter & Twisted was named one of the must-visit “New Kids,” renowned for its “ramen burgers and a 24-page cocktail book,” as well as its location, “in the historic Luhrs Building, the bar feels very downtown: urban and sophisticated.” Based in San Francisco, Liquor.com is the world’s largest cocktails- and spirits-oriented publication, and winner of both the James Beard Award and the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards for Best Cocktail Writing and Best Cocktail Author.
Founded in 2014, Bitter & Twisted Cocktail Parlour (B&T) is a multi award-winning cocktail bar housed inside the historic 1920s-era Luhrs City Center in the heart of Downtown Phoenix. Led by the Scottish-born Principal Barman & Proprietor, Ross Simon, B&T has won both critical and popular acclaim for it’s innovative, from-scratch cocktail program (whimsically packaged in a 24-page illustrated Book o’ Cocktails), including five types of house-made ice, from hand-carved ice balls and punchbowl-ready “super cubes,” to shaved ice and crushed nuggets. B&T is also complimented by an array of house made ingredients which includes 16 different house-infused spirits made with fresh ingredients such as grilled pineapple or pure vanilla bean, as well as 14 varieties of house-made syrups, sugars and foams.
Carved into a soaring, stylish space inside the same historic high-rise that, ironically, used to house Arizona’s Prohibition Dept., Bitter & Twisted also tempts with a globe-straddling food menu. Handcrafted by the Hong Kong-born chef, Bob Tam, highlights include B&T’s famed Ramen “Momo” Burger (named to Thrillist.com‘s 10 best list), featuring a crisp ramen ‘bun,’ topped with sesame soy, sriracha soba caramelized onions, pepper jack and jalapeno mayo, and the follow-up smash success, the “Dragon” Dumpling Burger with a beef & pork patty, English muffin, white American cheese, carmelized onion, jalapeno mayo, Sichuan pickles and dumpling sauce.
