Clayton Companies has teamed up with Aline Architecture Concepts to transform the old Scottsdale Dry Cleaners space at Hayden and Osborn (3207 N. Hayden Road) into a new mid-century inspired brunch spot called The Eleanor. The new restaurant will offer traditional sit-down dining as well as a grab and go section. The grand opening is scheduled for September 4, 2023.

This isn’t the first time developer Clayton Companies and Aline have teamed up for hospitality projects. This development/design duo is also responsible for enriching the Valley with additional adaptive reuse projects including Fate Brewing Company and The Clayton House.

“When it came to the structure and design of this space, it was a no-brainer that we were going to work with Brian and his team at Aline,” says Tom Frenkel. “After working on several projects across the Valley and building a relationship with the team over the years, I knew it was going to be a seamless collaboration. Brian has an incredible ability to not only execute my vision but also provide feedback and direction when necessary. The Aline team created a refreshing and stunning new concept for us to house The Eleanor in and we couldn’t be more excited to have a new brunch spot for our local community to gather.”

Aline Architecture Concepts, driven by the mission to craft meaningful environments that inspire people and enhance their community, found inspiration in the original design of the development.

“We kept the historic low-profile roof, while brightening the space with new garage doors to the patio and a high wall with clerestory windows to bring in the natural light,” explains Aline Co-founder Brian Krob. “Light woods and retro colors bring the mid-century vibe. We’re looking forward to seeing this become a South Scottsdale community gathering spot!” adds Brian Laubenthal.

A new exterior space, previously covered with asphalt, is now a Polynesian-themed area with subtropical plantings, lava rock, and a large overhanging shade structure to the south. The new green space is located between The Eleanor and its neighbor, a yet-to-be-named lunch and dinner spot set to open in the relocated Polynesian Dairy Queen next door, in spring 2024.

The Eleanor is on track to hold a soft opening at the end of August, with a grand opening September 4. Follow @alinearchitecture on Instagram for updates.
