McCarthy Building Companies recently broke ground on Campo Bello Elementary School, a new-build construction project for PVSchools that includes demolition of the existing campus as well as some renovation work.
Originally built in 1961, Campo Bello Elementary is one of the oldest schools in the district and serves approximately 475 students in grades K-6. Every 2nd through 6th grader at Campo Bello has a Google Chromebook at his/her desk along with iPad and iPod touch devices available schoolwide.

We’d like to thank our voters for their continued support of public education and the students of PVSchools. The rebuild of the Campo Bello campus would not have been possible if it weren’t for our community,” said Superintendent James P. Lee, Ed.D.
The $15 million project includes 70,000 square feet of new facilities including classrooms, a multi-purpose room/cafeteria, media center, special area classrooms (for vocal music, visual arts, band and strings), and building support areas. A 12-classroom building that was constructed in 2001 and represents 13,000 square feet will remain and undergo renovations, allowing it to be incorporated into the new school campus. The remaining old buildings will be demolished making way for the construction of new play fields.
“The Education Services team at McCarthy is excited to work with the district and Orcutt Winslow on this project, which will completely transform their school campus into a state-of-the-art learning space,” said Steve Poulin, senior vice president of operations for the Education Services team at McCarthy. “As a Title I School with a focus on technology, we’re eager to help bring their school facilities into the 21st century.”
McCarthy Building Companies is the general contractor for the project and Orcutt Winslow is the architect. The project is being funded through a 2015 voter-approved bond election. The new school buildings will be completed in August 2019 with completion of the play fields slated for November 2019.
