Honoree: John Post, M.D., Medical Director, McDowell Healthcare, Maricopa Integrated Health System
Nicknamed “Papa Post” by some of his patients, Dr. John Post has built a reputation over the past 30 years as a compassionate physician with genuine concern for his patients. As medical director for the McDowell Healthcare Center at Maricopa Integrated Health System (MIHS), Post oversees a staff of more than 30 people, including three MDs, three nurse practitioners, two psychiatrists, three registered nurses, medical assistants and administrative support staff. In his research, Post has conducted expansive clinical trials, as well as contributed medical articles and abstracts.
However, the majority of his medical career has been dedicated to providing care for those who have been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. He has focused on the disease since it first spread to epidemic proportions and there was little hope for survival for those infected with the virus. He is known for the compassionate care he provides to the Valley’s HIV/AIDS population. Post also provides pediatric consults to Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
He earned his medical degree from the Wisconsin School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at MIHS. He has been employed at MIHS since the completion of his residency.

Finalist: Bentley Bobrow, M.D., Emergency Physician/Researcher, Maricopa Integrated Health System
Dr. Bentley Bobrow works as an emergency medicine physician at Maricopa Medical Center, is the director of the Medical Center’s Resuscitation Science Center, and serves as an attending physician who mentors ED residents. He also treats patients every day.
Throughout his career, Bobrow has devoted much of his time and energy to reducing the number of deaths due to cardiac arrest in Arizona. He has been a catalyst for exploring cutting-edge tools for fighting heart disease. As a result of these advances in technology and resources, Arizona has seen its death rate due to cardiac arrest plunge in the last six years and the survival rate for out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrest in Arizona has tripled.

Finalist: Andrew Garff, M.D., Medical Director, Emergency Department, Paradise Valley Hospital
Although he was only appointed medical director of Paradise Valley Hospital’s emergency department in April 2010, Dr. Andrew Garff has made huge strides in improving the hospital’s processes and flow of patient care.
Garff’s guidance has contributed to significant and consistent increases in patient satisfaction and quality outcomes. Patient wait times have decreased by approximately one hour.
Garff also provides tenderhearted care to his patients and a quality level of professionalism, humility and warmth in all patient encounters. When given the duty of delivering unhappy news, Garff can be found sitting at the bedside with the family, compassionately holding a hand to offer support.
