Burns & McDonnell moves to Central Arts District to accommodate growth
After growing locally by 300 percent since 2012, Burns & McDonnell is relocating its 90-person office to the Central Arts District for its expanding workforce. The 100 percent employee-owned global engineering, architecture, construction, environmental and consulting firm sees continued expansion, nearly doubling in size in the next few years.
“Our clients and their projects have allowed us to attract and expand a growing employee base in Arizona,” says Pat Edwards, vice president and general manager of the Phoenix office. “With regulations and technology constantly changing, we’re seeing an even greater client need for comprehensive design and construction solutions to the critical challenges we face as a community and country.”
Edwards says the move to the Central Arts District supports the firm’s commitment to being the best place to work in the country. Burns & McDonnell currently ranks No. 16 among Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For and has been recognized as a Best Place to Work in Phoenix since 2013.
“We’re constantly looking for ways to enhance our work environment,” says Edwards. “When exploring office options, we sought a location that would reflect our culture and bring new benefits to our employee-owners. Our new 25,000-square-foot space is located in a vibrant area near downtown and boasts on-site amenities such as a dining options, outdoor meeting spaces, collaboration spaces, cutting edge video conferencing, laundry and auto services, workout facilities and access to the light rail.”
The Phoenix office is home to one of our largest teams of employee-owners dedicated to traditional and renewable energy solutions. This year, Burns & McDonnell was recognized by Engineering News-Record as the No. 1 firm in Electrical Power and AZ Business as one of the top three engineering firms. In addition to power generation, transmission and distribution, the office specializes in the design, program management and construction of commercial, manufacturing and industrial facilities.
