Sundt Construction, Inc. climbed 32 spots to No. 65 on Engineering News Record’s (ENR) 2018 Top 400 Contractors list. ENR, the construction industry’s principal trade publication, creates its list of Top 400 Contractors based on the past year’s construction revenue. The results were announced last month by ENR.
“We are very pleased with our position in the ENR rankings,” said G. Mike Hoover, Sundt’s President, CEO and Chairman of the Board. “Sundt’s movement on the list reflects what a strong year it was for the company and our employee-owners.”
Sundt reported more than $1.134 billion in construction revenue during 2017. In addition to being No. 65 on ENR’s Top 400 Contractors list, Sundt also ranked No. 40 on the publication’s Top 100 Contractors by New Contracts list, and the company jumped 39 spots to No. 48 on ENR’s list of Top 100 Construction Management-at-Risk Firms.
Sundt was highlighted by ENR for its programs to attract and retain employees. “In today’s competitive workforce, your retention strategy is just as important as your recruitment strategy,” said Daniel Haag, Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer.
Sundt’s Arizona projects contributing to the 2017 revenue figures include: Arizona State University’s Sun Devil Stadium (a joint venture with Hunt Construction) in Tempe, Santan Vista Water Treatment Plant Expansion in Gilbert, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Classroom and Laboratory Building in Prescott, Banner University Medical Center Tucson (a joint venture with DPR Construction), the award-winning White Tanks FRS No. 4 Rehabilitation (a joint venture with Rummel Construction, Inc.) in Buckeye, the Union Tempe project in Tempe, and several others.
Headquartered in Tempe, Ariz., Sundt also topped the 2018 Phoenix Business Journal’s list of Commercial Building Contractors. The company increased its local revenue from the prior year by $340.94 million to hold the coveted top position.
