Empire Group of Companies, through its luxury urban infill division Aspirant Development, and Brinkmann Constructors have officially broken ground on The Osborn, the first high-end senior living community in Old Town Scottsdale to offer walkability to the area’s rich array of dining, retail, and cultural amenities. The 226-unit, 420,000-square-foot project will deliver a full continuum of care, from Active Adult to Memory Care, within a vibrant, urban setting.

“Our goal with The Osborn is to create a luxury senior living community that doesn’t feel isolated or institutional – but rather, connected, elevated, and experience-driven,” said Geoffrey Jacobs, managing partner of Aspirant Development. “This project is designed to empower residents to age in place with independence and dignity, while enjoying the lifestyle and walkability of Old Town Scottsdale.”

Offering 118 active adult units, 74 independent/assisted living units with full kitchens, and 34 memory care units, The Osborn also includes ground-floor retail and restaurant spaces that welcome residents and the broader community. A dedicated, publicly accessible paseo will run along the southern edge of the property, creating a vibrant pedestrian pathway where residents and visitors can relax, mingle, and enjoy Scottsdale’s outdoor lifestyle.

Resident-focused amenities will include a theater, chapel, salon, art studio, casual and upscale dining, elevated fitness center, a secluded activity deck with an outdoor pool, BBQs and communal areas, along with a rooftop deck with panoramic views. An upper-story indoor-outdoor lounge and numerous social spaces aim to foster connection, creativity, and wellness.

Designed by Gensler in collaboration with Douglas Sydnor Architect & Associates and being built by general contractor, Brinkmann Constructors, The Osborn integrates modern desert architecture with high-performance materials, including brick, composite wall panels, metal accents, and glass guardrails. The building’s stepped form, shaded patio spaces, and Sonoran Desert-inspired color palette help the structure blend into the surrounding environment, while offering residents ample outdoor living areas and visual interest.

“The Osborn as a progressive active senior living community, will be the result of an incredibly collaborative effort of the Empire Group, Cogir as the operator, Gensler and Sydnor as the designers and our team to pull from decades of experience in this product type, “ said Joe Strobbe, VP Phoenix of Brinkmann Constructors. “We can’t be more proud to see this project come to life in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, just down the street from Brinkmann Constructor’s Arizona office.”

Cogir Management USA will operate the community. Leasing is anticipated to begin in Fall 2026.

“We are very excited to bring our full service red carpet model for active senior living to The Osborn,” said Rob Leinbach, SVP Growth Initiatives for Cogir Senior Living. “This community is an excellent addition to our best in class senior living portfolio in the Valley.”
