Nadel Architecture + Planning, Los Angeles’ premier architecture and design firm, announced the continuation of its expansion plans with the opening of a new office in Phoenix, Arizona. The expansion positions the firm for ongoing growth in the months ahead and allows it to harness opportunities in a rebounding market, according to Greg Lyon, chairman and principal for Nadel.
“For the last 47 years, Nadel has been L.A.’s leading architectural and design firm,” says Lyon. “Our company has always been forward thinking, and the launch of this Phoenix office aligns well with our proven strategy. We believe the economy will reemerge strongly after the pandemic, and the new office – in concert with our existing L.A. office – is an opportunity to position ourselves for exponential growth in a market with strong potential coming out of this financial crisis.”
Phoenix is an ideal market for Nadel’s expansion as the region is currently undergoing a significant construction boom despite the pandemic, notes Lyon.
“With this market’s continuing population and job growth, Phoenix is experiencing a true renaissance, which is phenomenal given the current global economic and health crisis,” says Lyon. “We are confident that we are targeting the right market at the right time, and we are ready to take advantage of a new pipeline of unique opportunities in this market.”
To spearhead the launch of its Phoenix office, Nadel has rehired veteran architecture and design executive Rick Redpath as managing director. Redpath, who has nearly 30 years of experience in the retail sector, had initially been with the firm for five years, joining right before the Great Recession in 2007.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Rick back to our team,” Lyon notes. “In addition to being like family to us, bringing him back on board is a testament to his track record in the industry and a real value-add for our firm. Rick’s deep expertise and relationships in the daily-needs retail sector, combined with his thorough knowledge of the Phoenix market, allow us to leverage our growth in those areas and build on the market sectors where we currently have expertise in L.A., including multifamily, office, industrial, and hospitality. With Rick at the helm of our new Phoenix office, we are well positioned to expand our services to a broader range of clients in a new geographical location with so much promise.”
Before joining Nadel, Redpath served as vice president of grocery stores and shopping centers for two years at FITCH before moving up to managing director and executive director of architecture for the following six years. He is deeply skilled in planning and entitlements, design research, site design, prototype and roll-out architecture, and construction management for commercial projects. Redpath is a licensed architect in five states, a member of NCARB and the AIA, as well as a LEED AP.
“Nadel is like family to me, and I’m excited to be working with the firm again in this new capacity,” says Redpath. “I’m looking forward to building relationships and providing outstanding service in the southwest region as well as continuing to grow our presence and client base throughout the U.S.”
