Home developers will be building two upcoming Gilbert and Chandler neighborhoods with plans to have both communities LEED Certified with the U.S. Green Building Council.

Maracay Homes is building and registering all of the homes at the Preserve at Adora Trails in Gilbert and Hawthorn Manor in Chandler with the goal of having the homes LEED certified.

The U.S. Green Building Council is a third-party rating system that verifies green building compliance across several areas in sustainability. Maracay’s upcoming homes are designed to use 30 to 60 percent less energy than a typical home.

Homes at both communities will meet the EPA’s Indoor airPLUS specifications and will feature water-efficient fixtures, LED lighting, energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, Energy Star appliances, wi-fi enabled and programmable thermostat among other features.

Adora Trails is a master-planned community, which will be located near Riggs Road and Val Vista Drive, featuring 2,494 to 3,342-square-foot homes. Hawthorn Manor, located near Chandler Heights and Cooper roads, will feature single-story Flex Design floor plans ranging from 3,030 to 3,839 square feet.
