Avison Young announced that SWC Development Partners broke ground last week on a 59,352 square-foot warehouse/distribution facility located at 11860 N. Dysart Road within Skyway Business Park in Surprise, AZ. In attendance were principals of SWC Development partners along with dignitaries from the City of Surprise and real estate advisors from Avison Young who have the marketing assignment for the project.

In October 2021, Avison Young Senior Vice President, Kevin Helland brokered the acquisition of 27.9 acres of land for Skyway Commons on behalf of SWC Development Partners. The project will include a multi-phased industrial development of warehouse/distribution, manufacturing, and flex facilities that will be for sale or lease. Avison Young’s Helland and Principal and Director of Brokerage Services Mark Seale who are out of the firm’s Phoenix office are representing the ownership on the leasing and sale of the project.

“It was an exciting day in the City of Surprise last week as SWC Development Partners broke ground on Skyway Commons, its first of multiple industrial buildings within Skyway Business Park. This facility is slated to be completed early in the third quarter of 2022,” said Helland.

In addition to the Avison Young team, event attendees included City of Surprise Mayor Skip Hall, City of Surprise Councilmember Alyson “Aly” Cline, City of Surprise Director of Economic Development Jeanine Jerkovic, City of Surprise Economic Development Project Manager Kirsten Hall, SWC Development Partners Principal Kurt Weisbeck and family, and SWC Development Partners Principal Mitch Hoffman and Project Superintendent Dallas Rexstrew.

SWC Development Partners is developing the final phase of Skyway Commons, an industrial park which currently has four completed industrial buildings totaling 173,878 sf that were built by another developer. SWC Development Partners has plans to build eight buildings ranging from 25,000 sf to 139,278 sf. The second building will total 139,278 sf and will commence construction in 2Q 2022 with completion estimated 1Q 2023. The construction schedule for the remaining six buildings is to be determined based on market demand.

Skyway Commons is located within Skyway Business Park, a 300-acre rail-served business park situated in the heart of the northwest Phoenix region. It is strategically located 35 minutes from downtown Phoenix and is minutes from the confluence of Interstate 10 and Arizona Loop 303. It is strategically located to serve Arizona as well as the key markets in the Western United States including Ports of Los Angeles/Long Beach, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada and Southern California’s 23 million population.
