Canopied paths and sidewalks intermingle under lush citrus trees and trellised gardens at The Grove, an aptly named shopping and dining destination set to take shape in Scottsdale’s McCormick Ranch.
Inspired by Santa Barbara-style architecture and lifestyle, the 32,000-square-foot mixed-use project is the latest from developer DBM Ventures and general contractor LGE Design Build, who are teaming up with Finn Architects and AV3 Design on the high-end addition to McCormick Ranch.
“McCormick Ranch is one of the most desirable communities in Arizona, and its residents are increasingly looking for opportunities that are closer to home,” said DBM Ventures’ Bret Anderson. “The number of existing residences in the area and the site’s proximity to so many resorts that draw travelers make The Grove an ideal place for businesses to set up shop.”
In addition to a walkable, open-air concept set amidst expertly landscaped surroundings, The Grove will offer plenty of options for a.m. to p.m. dining, starting with a new restaurant from Luci’s Urban Concepts owners Lucia and Ken Schnitzer and Jerry Mansoor, who are behind concepts such as Luci’s Healthy Marketplace, Luci’s at the Orchard, Pomelo at the Orchard and Splurge at the Orchard.
Dubbed Luci’s at The Grove and set to open in October of 2018, the new 4,100-square-foot project will be the Luci’s brand’s first venture into Scottsdale, which happens to be where Ken Schnitzer grew up.
“We’re excited to bring Luci’s to the vibrant Scottsdale area, especially within the gorgeous setting of The Grove,” Schnitzer says of the new restaurant that will offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, craft cocktails and wine. “Luci’s at The Grove will feel like it’s been a part of the community for a long time — it won’t feel like it’s a brand new place.”
In addition to the culinary offerings, The Grove will host a bevy of posh retailers, from a carefully curated assortment of lifestyle brands to swanky boutiques brimming over with one-of-a-kind finds, coming fall 2018.
“I look forward to the new amenities and employment opportunities The Grove will bring to McCormick Ranch,” said Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane. “This development will enhance a very desirable, walkable community with a restaurant, retail and business office project.”
Inquiries from prospective tenants may be directed toward Chris Osborn of Western Retail Advisors for restaurant and retail leasing and Scott Boardman of Cushman & Wakefield for office leasing.
“The Grove really is reminiscent of something you’d find in an upscale, coastal California community,” said LGE Design Build President and CEO David Sellers. “It’s a really unique, resort-style setting, and it will offer a certain lifestyle component you can’t find anywhere else in the area.”
