Valley non-profit, Southwest Kids Cancer Foundation, is hosting its fifth annual Golf Fore Cancer tournament on Saturday, December 2. The charity tournament will benefit Arizona Camp Sunrise and Sidekicks, a series of camps and programs that benefit children who have or have had cancer, and their siblings.  Held at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club, the event will be presented by Steve Horn Real Estate and consist of a shot-gun start, silent auctions, contests, giveaways and more.

Southwest Kids’ Cancer Foundation invites golfers of all levels to come out to the fairway for a good cause. Apart from a round of golf, participants will have a chance to meet with campers and camp volunteers, as well as hear how AZ Camp Sunrise and Sidekicks has benefited families that have been impacted by childhood cancer.

Golfers are invited to enjoy a continental breakfast, lunch to-go, and an after-golf reception and silent auction. This year, items include a Cactus Bowl Ticket Package; Phoenix Suns Tickets; Diamondback Tickets; foursome packages at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club, Verrado Golf Club, and Pinewood Country Club; and an overnight stay at Lake Power and gift basket.

Last year, the event raised $40,000 and tournament organizers are hoping to meet or surpass that this year. Funds that are raised through ticket sales and the silent auction will go directly toward giving children from all over Arizona and the Southwestern United States who are fighting or surviving cancer, a chance to be a kid at summer camp without any limitations. With activities such as horseback riding, fishing, and gathering around a campfire, kids who attend Arizona Camp Sunrise are able to enjoy their summer as any other kid would while also receiving the medical attention they need on-site. Their siblings also receive their own designated week of camp where they get to have the same fun and receive the support and comradery they need. Through fundraising events such as Golf Fore Cancer, both camps are offered at no cost to families.

“We look forward to our Golf Fore Cancer tournament every year,” says Executive Director and Chief Development Officer of Arizona Camp Sunrise and Sidekicks, Barbara Nicholas.  “We can’t express enough how much of an impact the funds raised through this event mean to the families of children who look forward to attending our camps all year.”
