The final Goodguys Rod & Custom Association 2016 event is bringing 3,000 candy colored and chromed out hot rods, customs, classics, muscle cars and trucks through 1972 to Westworld of Scottsdale on Nov. 18 to 20.

This event, one of the “must attend’ events on the 20-stop national tour produced by California-based Goodguys Rod & Custom Association, brings hot rodders from all over the U.S. and Canada to the Valley of the Sun to enjoy three days of American automotive fun.

The event will feature the Goodguys AutoCross Duel in the Desert, the Top 12 Award winners champions Arena, used auto parts swap meet, cars for sale, music and more.

Currently, the event showcases pre-registered vehicles from 28 US States and Canada.

Goodguys events originate back to 1983, when official car nut Gary Meadors founded Goodguys back in the spring of 1983 as a way to get car people and hot rod aficionados like him together to show off their cars, trade ideas, listen to some live music and have a little fun.

The vision behind the Goodguys events was simple: to welcome all genres of American car enthusiasts with a lean towards V8 powered, low-to-the-ground eye catchers like hot rods from the 1930s and 1940s, lead sled customs from the 1950s, muscle cars from the 1970s as well as the new breed of American Muscle like the 5.0 GT Mustangs, Z28 Camaros and more.

What started over 30 years ago is now a strong, 20-event series that allows car fans to meet and hang out.

The Goodguys 19th Southwest Nationals gates are open Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. General admission is $20, kids 7-12 $6.

There is a $5 spectator parking fee charged by WestWorld of Scottsdale. Visit www.good-guys.com to purchase event tickets or to register a show car. Call Goodguys at (925) 838-9876 for more information. General admission tickets are available for $17 online until 11:59 p.m. up until 11/17 only.

Patrons will get to see the Top 12 Awards that honor automotive excellence, with will recognize the nation’s finest cars and trucks as well as the best AutoCross racer in the land.  All winners will be on display during the event in the Champion’s Arena presented by Meguiar’s.

On Sunday, November 20, the K&N Filters All American Sunday will open the event up to American made or powered cars and trucks from any year. There will be a special parking area for those that want to join in the All American celebration. In addition, All American Sunday participants can run the AutoCross course and can win awards.

Dave Kindig, Custom car builder, and star of the wildly popular, “Bitchin’ Rides” will be onsite all weekend long. Kindig will be on hand to meet and greet fans and sign autographs. Kindig and his team at Kindig-It Design have helped shape the look and feel of modern day hot rodding. From hot rods, like the “Tribute ’32 Giveaway Car,” to big bodied customs and cruisers, Dave’s vision and design have made him an international star in the scene.

The event will also feature a 32 car showdown in the Goodguys 2016 “Duel in the Desert” AutoCross Shootout, set for Saturday.

The winner of the Duel in the Desert will be crowned Goodguy/F.A.S.T  2016 AutoCrosser of the Year. Cars registered in the show are eligible to compete in the AutoCross and it is included in their registration. Several race-in spots are available during the event, which will be determined by the fastest lap times posted Friday.

If a qualifier does not make it to Arizona for the Duel in the Desert, the vacated spot will go to a race-in contender.

For those who need to do some shopping for a project, there’s the midway featuring multi-million dollar custom big rig tractor trailers (a show in and of themselves) offering high-performance parts and accessories to budding hot rodders and do-it-yourselfers. Patrons will have the chance to interact directly with manufacturers during the weekend.

There are model kit giveaways at the event for kids too, to inspire them to eventually have their own hot rod.

Goodguys teamed up with Toys for Tots of Maricopa County with the Holiday Hot Roddin’ Toy Drive.  Event attendees can support Toys for Tots by bringing a new, unwrapped toy to the event and receive a $3 off coupon for general admission throughout the event.
