The Construction Management Department at Northern Arizona University presented Mark Minter, Executive Director of the Arizona Builders’ Alliance, with its Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award.
The award was presented at the Annual Demolition Ball in April.
A 1975 N.A.U. graduate, Minter was recognized for outstanding contributions to the industry, community and the university.
Over the years Minter has helped to develop curriculum, connect interns with employers, develop funding for competitions and extra-curricular activities, serve on faculty interview committees and supported the growth and development of the CM Department at NAU. He has served on the Industry Advisory Board of the Department since the early 1990’s.
In presenting the award the Department Chairman, Stephen Mead, noted that Minter and the Arizona Builders’ Alliance were instrumental in saving the CM program in the late 1990’s. Budget cuts had caused the university to consider “axing” the program.
Minter and others from industry met with the president of the university and convinced her that the CM program was needed and highly valued by contractors.
