AECOM, a global leader in infrastructure, announced that it has acquired Hunt Construction Group. The acquisition of Hunt will make AECOM a top U.S. builder, in particular in sports venues, airports and healthcare facilities, and add more than $1 billion in revenue. Through the acquisition, AECOM has the ability to serve clients as a fully integrated service provider, able to design, build, finance and operate.
The deal marries Hunt’s construction capabilities with AECOM’s design and architecture expertise in professional sports arenas and airports, with projects such as the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, and the Phoenix Convention Center and Expansion in the companies’ portfolios. This announcement comes a day after Hunt Construction was announced as a general contractor on a proposed casino and hotel development in Glendale, Ariz., by the Tohono O’odham Nation. This announcement also comes on the heels of AECOM’s recent announcement that it will acquire $10 billion industry peer URS. The combined entity, including URS and Hunt, will have more than 95,000 employees in 150 countries and a calendar year 2013 pro forma revenues of more than $20 billion.
AECOM plans to leverage Hunt’s and URS’ sector experience in key markets, to further enhance its global platform that currently supports clients in 150 countries. AECOM is led by Michael Burke, who was named CEO in March 2014 and has since made significant moves to accelerate AECOM’s industry-changing strategy to become a fully integrated infrastructure firm.
