“We’re thrilled to bring phase three of our campus master plan to life after several months of thoughtful planning and design,” said Cole Marvin, executive director, Friendship Village Tempe. “The response from prospective residents has been phenomenal as we’re already well over halfway sold in just five months of sales. This phase truly embodies our mission to make Friendship Village Tempe the most fun, vibrant senior living community to live at in the country.”
The third phase will include 69 independent living apartments, two guest suites and below-grade parking. The one and two-bedroom residences range from 909 square feet to a penthouse option that is 2,396 square feet. Several amenities, including the reimagined Del Fuego restaurant and lounge, featuring duckpin bowling lanes, will be located on the fifth floor. Residents will also have access to a specially designed spa and clinic space, in addition to club rooms and a group exercise area. The building will provide accessibility to the first two buildings constructed as part of the revitalization, which include rooftop pickleball courts and Starfire, a full-service rooftop restaurant and microbrewery available to residents.
“Our construction and Ryan A+E teams are excited to once again collaborate on delivering an exceptional building to the dynamic Friendship Village Tempe campus,” said Beau Brush, vice president of construction operations, Ryan Companies. “Once completed, this new building will provide seniors with welcoming residences, thoughtfully designed common areas, and the premier amenities that have come to define the Friendship Village experience.”
Friendship Village Tempe, one of the first continuing care retirement communities in the region, was originally built in 1980. The revitalization of its campus began with the first phase in 2019. Ryan A+E Inc., the design studio of Ryan, has served as the architect for all three phases, along with Ryan serving as the general contractor throughout each phase. Six total phases are being planned with an approximate completion date of 2036.
Ryan has built more than 60 senior living communities across the country and Friendship Village Tempe phase three marks Ryan’s tenth senior living project in the Southwest. Substantial completion of the project is scheduled for Q4 2027.
