MomDoc Makes Bold Move

In a move almost unheard of in a traditional medical practice, MomDoc and all its sixteen offices scattered throughout the Valley, have eliminated their front desk in favor of something called, the Living Room Concept.

“The Living Room Concept is another example of our commitment to patient centered care,” notes Nick Goodman, CEO of MomDoc. “Earlier this year we were honored to be an early adopter through NCQA for Patient Centered Specialty Practice, the only OB/GYN in Arizona . This takes our dedication to patient care and comfort one step further.”

When patients enter a MomDoc office, they are greeted by an inviting living room with furnishings much like the typical living room. Comfortable seating, flat screen televisions and plenty of space welcome visitors. Medical Assistants sit with each patient to review their visit and escort them to an exam room. Co-pays are taken before the exam and attention to detail and comfort are paramount.

Sixteen offices around the Valley feature various themes including Broadway, Hollywood, Nature, Fine Art and Fashion. The lovely surroundings are meant to help patients feel comfortable, pampered and cared for by their provider. And it can ease some of the stress of seeing an OB/GYN. Patients love the relaxed atmosphere and the beautiful furnishing and comfort. Patients report that the living room concept speeds up appointments, waiting rooms are very comfortable, and especially with the televisions for little ones to watch and that the nod to personal attention is greatly appreciated.

The MomDoc umbrella of practices includes; Drs. Goodman and Partridge, OB/GYN in the valley for over thirty years; MomDoc Women for Women, a practice with all female providers; Healthy Pregnancy Perinatology, specializing in high risk pregnancy; Mi Doctora, a fully Spanish speaking women’s healthcare practice; MomDoc Midwives, where midwives provide excellent hospital based deliveries and SHE, Sexual Health Experts, the only practice of its kind in Arizona.

MomDoc is Joined by Westridge OB/GYN

MomDoc, Arizona’s women’s healthcare leader, announced that Westridge OB/GYN will be joining MomDoc May 1, 2013 in an effort to enhance the growing needs of healthcare in the West Valley.

“We are very pleased that Westridge, OB/GYN is joining MomDoc . All at MomDoc welcome all with Westridge, OB/GYN. Uniting will create expanded care for women in the Estrella area and we are glad to be part of that growth,” said Nick Goodman, MomDoc CEO.

Both MomDoc and Westridge have strong reputations of providing high quality care to patients. “Both Dr. Gallai and Dr. Boyce are highly regarded by their patients. We are happy to have both of these fine physicians join MomDoc” added Goodman.

Dr. Lorenzo Boyce, FACOG, has been on the West side since 1993 and Dr. Robert Gallai, FACOG since 1994. Dr. Boyce moved to Phoenix from the Chicago area and Dr. Gallai from Canada.

Some MomDoc providers will move to the Westridge office. Westridge, OB/GYN will continue to practice and in shared space MomDoc Women for Women will provide care.

Patients will see little change in care initially, followed by gradual improvements.  Services at Westridge will remain the same other than additional staff to handle patient needs. MomDoc will move its existing Estrella office to the Westridge building. The site will continue to provide multi-lingual care. Westridge OB/GYN is located at 8410 West Thomas, Rd. in Phoenix.

MomDoc Names New COO

MomDoc, a well known staple in women’s health care in the Valley, has named Lori Linder its new Chief Operating Officer. Linder is a familiar face in the healthcare field. She will assume responsibilities in early May.

Linder has more than thirty years experience working with Banner Health, Arizona’s largest health care system. She has served as Chief Financial Officer for Banner Ironwood Medical Center since the center opened. She also functioned as Banner’s Interim CEO. She provided leadership when Banner opened Cardon Children’s Medical Center and served as the CFO at Banner Desert Medical Center as well.

“I am very excited to be joining an organization of the caliber of MomDoc. With 33 years in healthcare administration, I hope that my experience can assist MomDoc in these changing and challenging times in American healthcare,” she says.

MomDoc CEO Nick Goodman is pleased to have Linder at the helm. “Healthcare is changing rapidly. As leaders in women’s health medical care it is our honor to work with Lori Linder. She brings to the MomDoc leadership team considerable depth of knowledge on the full cost spectrum of the entire continuum of care.”

Linder brings a wealth of experience to the position of COO at MomDoc as well as a Bachelors of Science in Accounting and a Masters of Business Administration, Finance and Healthcare from Ohio State University. MomDoc hired Linder after tremendous year over year growth within the practice.

“This exciting time in healthcare will allow proven models that take into account best practices, best outcomes and cost reduction measures to take the lead in discussions rather than fee schedule based systems; with Lori MomDoc will continue to innovate so that patients can get the care they need, from those they want to see at the time and place they want to be seen,” adds Goodman.

MomDoc named Patient Centered Specialty Practice

MomDoc, known Valley wide for exemplary care in women’s health, was named one of only sixty early adopters of the prestigious Patient Centered Specialty Practices, a recognition previously available only to  primary care practices. MomDoc is the only practice honored in Arizona.

Patient Centered Specialty Practice is an extension of the Patient Centered Medical Home designation which emphasizes strong connections between primary and specialty practices engaged in a patient centered model. The designation was given only to those specialty practices that have successfully coordinated care with their primary care colleagues and each other and that meet preset goals including timely access to care and continuous quality improvements. The program also addresses reducing duplication of tests, measuring performance and improving patient communication.

MomDoc is recognized in Arizona for its five overarching practices with fifteen offices. Under the MomDoc umbrella are Drs. Goodman and Partridge, OB/GYN a staple in the valley for over thirty years; MomDoc women for Women, a practice encompassing all female doctors; Mi Doctora, a fully Spanish speaking women’s practice; MomDoc Midwives and SHE, Sexual Health Experts, another practice unique to the state featuring an emphasis on women’s sexual health.

MomDoc is in good company with its new distinction, sharing the spotlight with Johns Hopkins Community Physicians, a part of the group which includes both the hospital and the School of Medicine.

“It is indeed am honor to be one of the early adopters and to receive this designation,” says Nick Goodman, CEO of MomDoc. “It is very special to be the only practice in Arizona to be recognized. It makes us even more proud of the work we do at MomDoc and it lets us know that the direction we take with our practices is the right one.”

Patient centered care, originally recognized in the Patient Centered Medical Home designation, is an innovative program for improving care in clear, specified criteria which include coordinating care around patients, working in teams and coordinating and tracking care over time. It is the cornerstone of MomDoc’s philosophy and practices. From early morning, evening and Saturday appointments to emotional health and whole patient care, MomDoc prides itself on service and a patient centered approach.

MomDoc offices and specialty practices are located throughout the Valley and same day appointments are available.
