Walmart Neighborhood Market to anchor Marketplace at Central

Marketplace at Central announced that Walmart Neighborhood Market will become its anchor tenant, opening a 43,619-square-foot location for June. Marketplace at Central is located at the Southeast corner of Central and Dunlap Avenues on 111 E. Dunlap Ave. Phoenix, AZ.

Whitestone focuses on value creation in its centers, creating communities within their properties. “The addition of Walmart Neighborhood Market rounds out Marketplace at Central as a retail destination that offers visitors a one-stop shop to many of their shopping and dining needs,” said James C. Walmart Neighborhood Markets were designed in 1998 as a smaller-footprint option for communities in need of a pharmacy, affordable groceries and merchandise. Walmart Neighborhood Markets offer fresh produce, meat and dairy products, bakery and deli items, household supplies, health and beauty aids and a pharmacy.

Marketplace at Central, located at the Southeast corner of Central and Dunlap Avenues, joins other national retailers including Ross Dress for Less, Sally Beauty Supply, Dollar Tree, Little Caesar’s Pizza, H&R Block and The UPS Store.

Size: 70,500 SF Phase I & 200,000 SF Phase II

Phase I is being constructed on 13 acres and includes a 40,000 SF Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market, a 13,000 SF CVS Pharmacy and 17,500 SF of shop space. Phase II will be 21 acres with future development for 200,000 SF of retail space. Wal-Mart and CVS will open by 3Q10 within the $10.5M marketplace. Construction began Nov. 2009, with an estimated Sept. 2010 completion. Brokerage firm is Frontera Development.
